Ive lost my voice completely for over 4 weeks now and cannot talk at all. In the past 5 years it has happened quite a few times maybe twice a year. The 1st time i lost it for 6 months and saw an ent specialist and had to learn to talk again. After that i have lost my voice for a 1 week, a few days and now i have lost my voice again for over 4 weeks now. I am waiting to see another ent specialist but the nhs seem to take forever and it is going to be november before i can see anyone. I have looked at private and its £190 just for a consultation. Nobody seems to know what it is or why it happens which is the most frustrating thing and i dont know when it will come back. Has anybody else been in this situation and is so what have they found out.

Please help, I am 24y. My penis NBPEL size is 5.7 inches, and BPEL is 6.7 inches. Is my penis of 5.7 inches in erect length normal? Last year I lost 60 pounds. I was 256 and now I am 196 pounds. My height is 6 foot and 3 inches. I am also very concerned about the size of my testicles. My left is smaller that right testicle. Size is about 2 inch x 1 inch x 1 inch, and calculator of Volume of an Egg say that volume is about 17cc (cubic centimeters). Is this normal? I do not have a lot of hair on my chest, and I don't have very deep voice. I am afraid that my testicles don't produce enough testosterone. My whole male family have very deep voice, very chast hair, especially my dad. I do not know their size of the testicles and penis so I need help to answer my questions. And one more question: Will I get deeper voice, lot chast hair and bigger testicles? Thanks!

Hi. I am a 57 year old female who has smoked and drank (socially) most of my life. For the past 9 weeks I have had hoarseness consistently in my voice to the point I cannot even be heard by people at work. I also have some kind of sore throat and dizziness. I just feel like something is really off. Yesterday I lost my voice totally. So scary. I am wondering if any off you out there had these symptoms before being diagnosed with throat cancer. It has taken 2 emerge visits to get an appt with an ENT doc witch I see in a week. I would like to know what he may do at the appt and any symptoms you all had that took you to the doctor. Thanks for sharing with me. Just waiting and wondering.

Hello, The programme made it look like it was very easy to get diagnosed and treated. It isnt always the case. I've had this condition for nearly 4 years. It look a year to be diagnosed (by an ENT specialist, a narologist and a Speech Therapist). I've had speech therapy for 3 years and tried lots of additional treatments (accupunture, osteopathy, throat massage and counselling in case it was trapped emotion - sadly its not!). Botox definitely does help but it is only short term. Sure it serves its purpose, you can speak again with ease for a while - but that's it. Only a short while. I had to go back every 2.5 months for more. Eventually scare tissue developed, which made the injections (I had it bi-laterally each time) became harder to inject. Originally I had to pay privately for this and then managed to get it on the NHS (I had to push for this to happen). Its worth you having botox if you are struggling but there is also an alternative if you are willing to put the work in yourself. I decided towards the end of last year that I wanted to try an alternative to botox, I couldnt accept that this was my only option for the rest of my life (Im in my early 30s). Through research I found Free to Speak Voice Therapy. It taught me the importance of posture, alignment, the correct breathing techniques and so much more. I am now retraining my voice into a new groove. Its working. I feel liberated and am finally starting to be able to speak freely for the first time in years. Its given me my life and my confidence back. I understand its a frustrating time for you and you want to get the right treatment. Do what's best for you but please consider the alternative to botox. Its worth trying the botox and it certainly served its purpose well and helped me to sound 'normal' again (in a botoxed voice). However, the best thing you can do for your voice is free it completely. Inhibiting the old patterns of behaviour that your voice has learnt with your SD condition and retraining it. I truly feel liberated now from my voice prison and able to speak freely again.

I have had a few panic attacks, I'm constantly worried about something. I get shaky sweaty, very emotional and tearful in difficult situations and have a fear that I have anxiety, it does run in my family but i'm not sure if I have it. Have you got any tips on how to control this?

I used to have shaky hands, I had it for 5 months before finally deciding to go and see a doctor (my hands got so shaky I spilt HOT tea over me - enough was enough!) The doctor prescribed propranolol to control my heart palpitations and anxiety, but also took an ECG and a blood test. The result? I had hyperthyroidism. It can be genetic (thanks Dad!) and if left untreated, it can lead to many difficulties later in life. My advice to ANYONE is if you have shaky hands, definitely go and see a doctor, but also find out from your parents if there are any thyroid illnesses in the family.

I used to have shaky hands, bad sweats, heart palpatations, dizzy spells and lack of sleep. It became so unbearable that i went to the doctors. I was tested and diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I was put on propranolol and carbimazole. This got my thyroid under control for 6 months, I then developed a full body rash which was diagnosed as an allergic reaction to the propranolol. I was admitted to hospital and given extreme medication and creams applied 4-5 times a day. It has taken the rash 7 weeks to clear on my body but is still very much active on my scalp. I have had to stop taking my thyroid medication as the GP's were unsure what caused the rash. My thyroid is extremely high and my initial symptoms have increased massively. I am awaiting more results to determine when I can restart my medication. My advice to anyone with any similar symptons, seek medical advise immediately!

My voice hasn't broken yet and i'm 16. My voice sounds really camp and makes people call me 'gay' and constantly ask if im gay. I didn't choose to have my voice like this, but im wondering if theres anything that can be done to change my voice or deepen it so it doesnt sound as gay/camp. It gets me down.

Replied but must have pressed wrong key so not recorded. Not been told its E T but seems to be. head tremor about 12yrs ,went into jaw 2yrs ago. year ago gp said tell dentist. Saw gp as very tense last week, gave diazapam low dose to ease tention. Now get anxiety with palpatation which didnt have before, What will be will be, so will need help again via gp Not keen on medication like you, but need some change in medication maybe.

I have shaky hands a lot but not all the time, occassionally my heart beats faster and sometimes I'm shaky all over. I was sitting in the chair recently and in a certain position my shoulder back and arm had a tremor. Makes me feel like a nervous wreck. It does get worse when stressed or if I have caffeine or alcohol or don't eat in time. Doctor says it's probably low blood sugar but I mostly maintain this well via my little and often diet. I would love to know for certain what the matter is and if it could be cured. I was wondering if it could be an allergy or hormonal. Anyone help?

I am 18 years old. I have had this condition since I was a baby. I'm fed up of constantly having to put up with my shaky hands. They shake all the time when I'm awake and they worsen when I feel scared/shy/anxious/cold/ill. I've considered actually taking my own life before (please note that I am past that phase and do not intend to do so) because of this very condition (and other problems) which has caused many, including my family, to bully me for it. The other day I was holding my spoon when eating something and didn't realise my uncle was watching me lifting the spoon to my mouth with my uncontrollably shaky hands. In front of everyone he said "OH IS THAT SPOON TOO HEAVY FOR YOU?!" in a harsh way. I'm so depressed because of many issues but this issue makes it so much worse and I fear that it would eventually worsen. I've been trying to go from doctor to doctor about this very evil but nothing, so now I just put it down to Essential Tremor. Doctors can be very ignorant when it comes to issues like this. A doctor I went to as a child said that I'll grow out of it but it's still here. Another said that I'm just anxious and paranoid...I'm NOT. It shakes even when I'm happy, even when I'm doing nothing. I can't be bothered to provide every single person on this planet who asks me what's wrong with my hands with an explanation, I just say I'm cold. I've been asked that damn question so many times, I'm so sick of it and no professional cares enough to help me. My future also seems crushed as I can't seem to write without flicking the pen across the room by accident and I write very shaky. I cannot cook either, or put nail polish on neatly, or make-up. I can't hold a glass firmly let alone drink from a cup without the fear of spilling it over my top. No I can't hold up a paper without it shaking. I can't take a selfie on the camera as it'll just come out blurry from the tremors. And many other things. I cannot do what is considered normal, it's a challenge for me to do the very basic things. I don't drink too much caffeine at all and I am healthy. I've been going through depression since I was 16 and my tremors aren't helping. I just don't know what to do anymore apart from hiding from the world and giving up with my exams as I just cannot write properly. Sometimes I get shakes in my legs and my voice is shaky too. People have critisised my writing but no one understands. Good luck to everyone suffering with this problem or a similar problem, I hope that one day something amazing will come along and put an end to it. Stay strong!

For the past 6+ months I have been experiencing shaky hands/fingers on and off. Ive avoided drinking coffee, to see if maybe that is what caused it. But it still continued. I'm not an alcoholic and it doesnt occur when I get nervous. When my hands do begin to shake it makes the most simplest of tasks difficult, like having a drink or passing someone something. Combined with the shaky hands I often feel quite light headed and just generaly quite poorly. Im also prone to fainting I have no idea what is causing it and I dont know if its something I should worry about?

'Telling the story from personal impact' lol I was hit by a car in 1994 and suffered a massive head injury. My voice went through periods of me speaking like a South African though mainly I sounded Welsh-Italian! Over the years my voice has become stable, but is it 'normal'? I am told by most speech therapists that I am dysarthric yet tests say I am not! It is the new me, I guess, as no one can remember how I spoke before. Oddly, I was good at accents (and animal impressions), but now can do none :( All I have left is a voice I use to speak, but it is not really me.

I am so pleased to have finally found a name for this condition. I am 54 and have suffered with a shaky hand for a few years now. It is my left hand which is a problem as I am left handed. I guess that hand gets more used and more tired. My right hand is hardly affected. I have shaky writing and spill or rattle cups of tea etc.I also have difficulty pouring milk and painting my fingernails. I will just put up with it as I hate going to the doctor and hate the idea of medication.

I have suffered with voice problems for 7 months, I have throat spasms my voice will suddenly go when I'm speaking or I will just lose my voice for up to a week at a time. My throat is constantly sore (but it's not like a throat infection soreness) I have had 2 cameras down my throat and keep being told I have reflux (I have taken numerous tablets and medication prescribed to me which makes no difference) I have niw referred to speech therapy and have attended 1 session to date, she also thinks I have reflux :(. It really gets me down I work in a school as a teaching assistant and this really effects my job. Nights out are now depressing as I can't keep up with the conversation without losing my voice... Does anyone have any suggestions other than the Botox,I don't fancy doing that every 3 months for the rest of my life :( ....

I am curious what your thoughts were on the book Intertwined?

Hi I often get sore throat and loose my voice or it becomes very hoarse. Been to the doctor several times and they say its not tonsillitis it's my vocal cords that get infected and there's nothing the doctor can do to help. They tell me to rest my voice. I am concerned as I get this sometimes twice in a month. I'm not happy with the doctors response and im worried I will damage my vocal cords so much that I will loose my voice completely or maybe even worse could it be cancer?

I dont know if this has anything to do with this issue but, I'm 15 going 16 and i've just started getting pubic hair. And, my penis has not yet grown and my voice has'nt broke, Personally i'm not that bothered but my Mother said if my voice has'nt broken (balls dropped) by the time i'm 16 there's something wrong. Should i be worried, i'm starting to get a bit worried and upset.

Hi I'm 42 and a female I'm British and I suffer with a fair few medical problems some still unanswered but I'm under many consultants. I have ankylosing spondylitis , I have had multiple blood clots in the lungs and I'm on warfarin lifelong now. I have had just had appointments regarding my heart and the pressures on the left side are higher than they should be,I was told if left untreated in 20 yrs my heart would be no gd. I have high blood pressure, I also recently lost my voice had to have emergency op on throat and was in ICU my family were told to expect the worse but I made it. I'm now waiting for another op as I have pollups on my voice box I have been told this wont bring my voice back but will give me more air space. The muscle on my voice box is tight so this is still on going. I have fibromyalgia and have been told that my kidneys arnt working 100% I am on many tablets and I suffer with depression. I also need to loose some weight. I am now suffering with patches on my face dae Rk patches across my eyebrows and top lip and chin. Top of my cheeks and top of my nose and it seems to be getting worse. Is there anything I can do at home to help with this? Thank you Kerry
