Hey,I've lately observed that I have tonsil stone. Every morning I try to get them out but I don't think everything is usually taken out because when I swollow my saliva I experience a foul taste at my tonsils. I use mouth wash but its of no use... Sometimes I use my finger and pass it on my tonsiljust to see if its smelly. Sometimes I smell nothing but most times it has a slight stinky smell (not high). My questions are:1. Is the method mentioned effective in testing breath? 2. Would my breath smell from a distance? Thanks. God bless!

The number 1 way to see how others observe your breath is to take the inside of your wrist and pick it with the BOTTOM of your tounge let it dry for a few seconds and smell it.

I read on a forum about how a woman cured her tonsil stones for good. She breaks open a probiotic tablet(any brand she says, I bought ultimate flora with 10 different strains for about $26 at Rite Aid) and she drops it into about 2 mouthfulls of warm water. She then would hold it in her mouth for about a minute moving her tongue around and trying to get it into all the little spaces at the back of her throat and then swallow it. I've been trying this for 2 days so far and so far no tonsil stones, but I did eat some dairy and had that horrible taste in my mouth immediately afterwards. I'm just waiting for my shipment of oral probiotics to come in and hopefully that will work for me. I believe that I upset the natural balance of bacteria in my mouth by obsessively brushing and using mouthwashes to kill as much bacteria as possible. Now I need to restore the good bacteria because it seems that the bad bacteria are naturally better at re-populating.

Im 15 and a girl. I always wake up with really bad breath and my mouth is full of really smelly slimy stuff and its just really awful because i cant see anyone in the morning unless I've brushed my teeth and tongue straight after getting out of bed. What should i do?

Hi, I get bad breath too even though I spend ages brushing my teeth really thoroughly. I've found that flossing at least once a day, using a toothbrush with a tongue cleaner on it and wiping that quite gently from back to front on my tongue and using 'Oraldene' mouthwash has really helped. The mouthwash tastes rank, but it works really well. Hope this helps

Hi Laura You may be dehydrated, often bad breath is a sign of this. Drink plenty of water, or if you dont like plain water try adding just a drop of squash. If you have a white coating on your tongue this is an indication of too much sugar in your diet which can also cause bad breath, so cut back on sugary drinks, sweets and fruit juices. Get yourself a tongue scraper and get used to using this every morning before you brush your teeth

I'm 17 and I've had chronic bad breath for 6 years, it could be longer but I was told 6 years ago. When I finally plucked up the courage to visit a GP, I had my tonsils removed, as I had bad tonsil stones. I have also had my wisdom teeth removed. Today I done something which I've never done, I finally told a medical professional I had bad breath, normally I disguise it with other things like a sore throat with the tonsils etc. My dentist said my teeth are perfect and I shouldn't have bad breath?! I really don't know what to do, I was so scared of saying I had bad breath, and when I do I'm not given an answer?! I brush twice a day and floss, scrape my tongue and use mouthwash. No one else in my family suffers from it, my mother has awful yellow and black rotting teeth and she's a heavy smoker and coffee drinker, but I've never smelt bad breath on her. I do get a bright yellow coating on my tongue throughout the day and I feel like I may have post nasal drip. Can anyone please help me, I know this is long but I'm desperate I'm close to suicide. Thank you

hey its not the answer. you might have gerd or post nasal drip. btw how did you know you have bad breath??

Get 3% hydrogen peroxide from the grocery store. First scrape your tongue floss and brush teeth. When you brush teeth brush the top of your mouth your gums and your vtongue. After that mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water and rinse and gargle for 45 seconds, spit it out and rinse mouth with water. Do this in the morning and before going to bed.If the source of your bad breath is your mouth or tonsils this will fix it . It works very well.

Whenever I exercise I go bright red in the face, my arms also then go red and my chest does. It's even gone so far as I've turned somewhat purple. I don't hold my breath and I breath like most people who exercise, I am not overweight and I do not smoke. Any idea what's wrong?

This past month, my farts have been really smelly (terribly smelly, worse of the worse in fact), although my diet has stayed the same the whole time. I've also recently started feeling ill and needing to pass a lot of gas, and I mean A LOT. Is there something wrong with me?

My tongue is the main cause of my foul breath. It not white but it's not smooth and pink either. It's more textured than most. It's like a carpet, anything I eat just sits in it, contributing to bad breath. I often get a white coating in the mornings which I partially manage to scrap off but despite my vigarous efforts some white remains. After brushing, scraping and antibacterial mouthwash breath is smelly within half an hour. All I have to do is eat or drink anything and the smell sits in my mouth (on my tongue) for entire day. I HATE IT! I also get tonsil stones from time to time, they roll out when scraping back of tongue but recently they've been green and stink!! only tiny things mind but smelly, none the less. I need help as this persisent breath issue is seriouly denting my confidence.

I wouldn't worry about your daughter's breath at this stage..It's probably the dummy that's causing it..My granddaughter was the same..Now she doesn't have a dummy, she's fine..Try to lessen the amount of time your daughter has the dummy, and change them frequently as they harbour quite a lot of bacteria, also sterilize them frequently when they are in use. You'll probably find when she's finished with the dummy, the bad breath will go...good luck..x

OK... ive had this problem for decades and have been aware of it... as you would probably guess i've invested loads of money and tried numerous product... which have mostly failed after some use... due to the fact that they only mask the symptom and eventually the body overides these chemicals resulting again in smelly breath... But! there is one product which i currently used and without any fail it has given me the freshest breath anyone could have... I now have the confidence to say HHHHeeeeeLLOOO an inch away from anyones face.. knowing that they Will be pleased with the freshness.. This product is a mouthwash (YES!)... Its called Retar DEX... it is Absolutely outstanding... and it actually cures the problem rather than mask it... After 2 uses you just may not have to use this product for sometime... it is actually that good... I think its all down to the Chorine Dioxide... Once you use this you'll never look elsewhere again. Its costs £9 or so from a local pharmacy.. good luck to everyone... and enjoy the rest of your life smelly breath free!

Just a quick note..and might not be relevant but I suffered really bad breath (and a smelly belly button) when suffering from h pylori. I also suffered really bad acid to the extent I was vommitting daily which added to the already foul breath I had.

hi,my teeth mouth and gums, are allways smelly,iv taken tablets,i brush my teeth 4 times a day,and the smell will never go,i also bleed, and when i put my finger on my teeth or gums and smell it,its a really horrible smell,i feel i cant talk to people, because its that bad.

for about 5 days my breath has smelt of fish when i wake up each day, and I'm trying to find the cause. I recently had a dental check up so I don't suspect the problem is in my mouth. I started taking a new glucosamine/omega 3,6,9 supplement. I stopped these when I noticed the smell but the smelly breath has continued. Any advice?

i have band my husband won't kiss me or get to close to me. He wants a divorce, i think because of my breath. i brush, floss, gargle etc. throughout the day. Nothing helps. I hold my breath in tight spaces or when close to others. This is extremely distressing for me and everything I do is effected by my self-consciousness about my bb. I feel so devastated that I cannot change this condition. I have a feeling that it is coming from my stomach and I bring up these smelly little green beads. Are these beads what others are calling toil stones? I taste my breath all day long. I cannot blame him for leaving. It is pretty awful. Any suggestions anyone? Help!

Hi my husband tells me that I have bad breath I have been to the doctors and the dentist who can not detect a problem. I can not smell the bad breath myself and am not aware of it. The dentist and doctors feel that I go not have a problem for them to treat. In the meantime my husband feels that the problem is still there. I feel that we have no choice but to get divorced. Can anyone help.

Do you all think we should tell people about it? I'm 23 and having been dealing with it for about 2 years now, chronically. I hate it. It's like being overweight and just knowing people are talking about you. I feel like I'm done hiding from it though. I feel like my breath is HORRIBLE and I KNOW people are repulsed but im still human and have to live my life." Some days I keep my head high and just embrace the nose rubs and steps back. But not always.. Anyway/ I always feel like people judge based on the fact that they think I'm unaware.. Obviously we all know this about ourselves. So I feel like maybe before meeting an old friend (childhood/high school/coworker) just telling them. "Hey I've got bad breath now, sorry but it's there." Or "Hey I've got bad breath so if you can't deal with that maybe we shouldn't hang" Because while its a horrible thing to deal with I feel it needs to be embraced. If I run the risk of having stinky breath my whole like then I'm done hiding. I'm just gonna be that smelly chick that's happy spreading stinking joy.

Tessa...I enjoyed reading your post...Most refreshing ( if you'll pardon the pun)..Good on ya!...If people take don't like it, let them stay away..I've suffered all of my life with BB in varying degrees...I'm 63 now and just about over it...I will say tho things have been a good bit sweeter since I started using Bi-Carbonate of soda and Lemon Juice to clean my tongue...also giving it a good scrape with a dessert spoon as far back as I can get every time I eat something...Sounds like a chore I know...but it's worth it when I see people's reaction towards me..or should I say them not reacting to me..you know, the usual..the stepping back, the nose rubbing, the sniffing... Just try these hints, see how you go...keep up the good attitude...!

My tongue is the main cause of my foul breath. Its really affecting me, my breath is so bad people can smell it from the othersie of the room. even with MY MOUTH closed!! The scum on my tongue is not white, its got a kind of greenish scum just in the back and centre of the tongue. There always seems to be this coating on my tongue, brushing, and mouthwash breath dont get rid of it it just turns the scum white then after a short space of time the scum is back! In addition i get these small little green/yellow coloured balls which r really smelly. I need this sorted ive hadthis for the past 6 months and I dont know what to do.

I've recently been dieting and as a result, it's caused me to suffer from really bad breath so I know what people are going through! I recently found a range called RetarDEX though which is a specific bad breath treatment. It worked amazingly and by using the toothpaste and oral rinse twice everyday and ensuring I regularly flossed and steered clear of particularly smelly food, my confidence has soared. They also do a handy pocket spray that gives you that hours of freshness with just one spritz! Defintely recommend.

Hey there....not sure in England but in America they will do it quick. I had the surgery maybe 2 years ago. Prior too, I was unable to keep my breath fresh. But I tried Dr Kats and it didn't work at first but this is what I did. I gargled my throught with warm salt water everyday, brushed, gargled with Act and flossed. I carried toothpaste, toothbrush and rinse with me at all times along with sugar free gum. To seenif your breath really stinks, slightly stick your finger towards the back of your throat but towards the side to avoid choking, then smell your finger. If it stinks, your breath does too. Try to avoid face to face chat with anyone until it's under control. I would also cough my stones up once they became too big. I pray that you find a Dr. To remove them. I also had tooth issues which I'm still working on but I'm getting there.

A water flosser, aimed at your tonsil area will wash out tonsil stones. Don't hurt yourself, go gently at first til you have worked out how to do it. It works wonders, is chemical free and only costs the price of a flosser. A manual flosser should be under £15. Good luck

To the 21 one year old who posted her comment below - you absolutely must give up smoking. It really doesn't help with your problem of bad breath and the coughing up "stuff" problem. I used to smoke and used to cough up small light green mucus, mostly just in the mornings, and this went away some time after giving up smoking. No-body has told me my breath smells, but I was made paranoid some years ago with my work colleague CONSTANTLY offering me gum and mints. I know it seems silly but I've been paranoid ever since and now chew gum CONSTANTLY. I have to have some in my mouth all the time, and realize it looks unprofessional at work, but would rather look unprofessional than have smelly breath..! A couple of mouthwashes that I've found to be better than the rest are Retar-dex and Oral-B. Both of them are not too strongly flavoured unlike Listerine but I haven't found anything that leaves your mouth feeling fresh all day (except gum!)

I am 22 and within the last few months I have started to get really bad breath and smelly bowel, I will not pass wind unless im on my own as it is very embaressing, I do it when im asleep and my partner says it is really really bad. my breath is a very strong smell too, I use listerine mouth wash after brushing, I constantly have to be chewing gum but I can taste it coming up from the back of my throat, as soon as iv brushed I can taste it straight away, I have been to the dentist he said my teeth are fine, been to the doctors they give me some tablets which worked for about 3days then the smell was back again so I went back and they give me the same tablets and told me to do research about it! I dont know what to do, someone please help!

I have had bad breath, lost my job due to it. tried to find a new job but it's very hard once you stink up the office. I had tonsil stones and awful bad breath. My friend told me to Google Oraltech Labs as it got rid of his bad breath and his post nasal drip. I've been following Oraltech Labs for about 2 weeks now and I feel much better, also people are not avoiding me anymore so it seems to have cured my bad breath as well.
