I had an mouth ulcer on the roof of my mouth. My dentist told me it will disappear if I carry out a roof canal treatment. However it didn't. And now this ulcer has been sitting in my mouth for over a year now, I am really worried. It does not hurt normally but I can feel sometimes it goes bigger and sometimes smaller. Don't know what it is really, can anyone suggests pls?

For several days now I've had what feels a bit like the roof of my mouth is swollen, but towards the back. I noticed I could hardly spit out the toothpaste after brushing my teeth! It's very uncomfortable and at times painful. I'm finding it difficult to eat or drink at times and even sleep now because it's getting even more uncomfortable! I have been known to have fairly frequent problems with my tonsils and I'm constantly paranoid that my breath smells because I often have a nasty taste in the back of my throat or I worry my saliva smells. Does anyone know what this swelling of the roof of my mouth may be? It's not a lump or anything, seems levelly spread out and is just too uncomfortable now!

I have white stuff which I think is thrush in my mouth on my tongue, roof of mouth, cheeks, side of mouth and now it looks like it's starting at the back of my throat too.I also have white creamy discharge down below too.My mouth is so sore I can't eat or drink anything. For the last few weeks I have been waking up at night drenched in sweat.I have had a temperature for two weeks and it won't go away. When I get out of bed I get so out of breath that I have to go back. Can thrush go away on its own?My mom made an appointment with a doctor because she's worried but I get really nervous at the doctors and don't really want to go.Is there anything I can do to make it go away on its own or lower my temperature(think I've tried everything though). Please help.

I've had a sore mouth for about a week. One side of my mouth started to throb and then since this I have had several mouth ulcers around my Mouth.. Some by my tonsils and more clusters on the roof of my mouth and under my tongue. I have had mouth ulcers badly before (usually during my period) but this seems to be the most yet! My doctors have been very unhelpful. The pain is terrible and I can't eat. Please advise.

I have been getting mouth ulcers since i was 16 - thats 6 years now. I have never not had at least one in my mouth at a time, i get them down my throat, on the roof of my mouth, my tongue, gums everywhere and the doctor has prescribed many different things none of which have improved them at all. However when i was pregnant 2 years ago they completely disappeared but then after i had my child they came back again. I know seem to get break outs of them the week before my period is due. Do you have any idea what this could be and how i can stop them?

I'm 17 (18 in October) and I have regular occurances of mouth ulcers and I can get an average of three each time. Right now i'm suffering from three on the bottom lip and one on the inside of the joint of the lips and one on my gum near the roof of my mouth. I participate in no sexual activities. The last time i went to my GP my mouth was pulled and tugged at but then it was ruled off as stress. However the occurances have been getting more regular and without any obvious cause. If anyone who knows anything would be a big help.

I have been suffering with a sore mouth and tongue which now appears to be burning mouth syndrome. I have visited the dentist and doctors, had my levels of iron and B12 checked - borderline on B12 and high on iron - and have been advised to take a multi vitamin. I have also been referred to the hospital via the dentist. Can you recommend anything that I can take or do to stop the pain - the roof of my mouth is very sore and I have sores around the edge of my tongue. Thanks.

hi, im 47 and ive been suffering with inflammation on the roof of my mouth, behind my front teeth since i stopped smoking last september.i have had blood tests taken which have all came back ok, ive had a course of nystatin, which did nothing. i think it could be burning mouth syndrome, what do you think? the dentist has now sent a referral letter to the dental hospital, which he has sais they will probably have to trim my gums, which sounds barbaric to me, as i have a needle phobia. what do you think it could be?

I have recently had my tongue peirced and a week later I woke up to a white tongue so I thought I better go back to the shop and get it checked to make sure it wasn't infected, so the guy checked my tongue with a special torch and he said its not infected, he said its deyhydration so he told me to drink more water and eventually it will wash away. Hi, I'm 38 yr old woman, I have been getting mouth ulcers for years on and off and sore throats, recently I've started to get vulval ulcers too and it's all very sore! The doctor gave me corisol tablets for the mouth and something else for the other place. I suffer from fatigue and dry eyes which get red looking and acne, hace I got Behcets Syndrome?

I'm 18 and I've had acid reflux from the age of 11 or 12. When ever I eat I end up bringing it back up into my mouth. When it gets bad I get reflux when I haven't eaten and just get stomach acig coming up. I was put on Gaviscon Advanced which initially helps but now no longer has any affect. For the last few weeks it has been much worse than it has every been before, occuring much more frequently, and with abdominal pain and pain in my chest which made it difficult to move or sleep. I have never had abdominal pain with it before now. I have also had pain in the roof of my mouth since last night which I think has been caused by the acid. What can I do to help this? What damage is the acid likely to be doing to the rest of the body e.g osophagus, mouth etc.?

I suffered as well, but the best thing you can do is see you doctor. Ask him if Omeprazole can help you, it has me!

abigail, can i suggest that you see your doctor as i had the same problem and then was sent to hospital where i had a tube with a camera put down inside my stomach and was then advised that i had a hiatus hernia and acid reflux.I was then advised by my doctor to take LANSOPRAZOLE CAPSULES which i take one a day first thing in the morning before food and that lasts all day.Since then i have no problems.I have even managed to come off them for long periods of time and just take them when the problem gets worse.

I had my tonsils out in November 2014 and still get white blistery spots at the back of my throat and roof of my mouth just like I used to get during tonsilitis. Is this the same thing? It is just as painful to swallow as before and makes me feel that the operation was completely pointless. Please advise! :-(

Hi i am 41 i was born with a cleft palate i hated school because of all the bullying i just want to be accepted as a person and grow up the same as my friends .As far back as i can remember, one op i had to wear a tube up one side of my nose to support my nostril to reconstruct it .Back in 2000 i had my jaw broken in 3 places to realine the jaw and it was screwed with titanium plates which my gums were suppose to grow over but they didnt , i went from 13 stone to 9 stone in 3 weeks .The only side effect i get is that i grind my teeth when im asleep but i dont relise im doing it .My last op i had was in 2004 where i had a skin graph to try and cover the hole in the roof of my mouth but that failed to so the only ever way they could do it was to stitch the tongue to the roof of my mouth but i was told it was 50/50 it would work so i didnt go ahead with it and i just didnt want any more pain after all the years of having numerous ops.Its not until 3 yrs ago i went to the doctors and found out i was suffering from depression due to my past .Todays society still dont understand or care about peoples feelings and i still think my cleft palate holds me back from getting a job .People should stop looking at the disfigurement and look at the person inside after all we are still human .I can honestly say frenchay and bath royal united hospital have been absolutely fantastic .

You can ask your dentist to make a mould of your teeth and they will make on for you, it will cost if you are not on nhs , I grind a lot but I have been refurred to specialist but they said I have to get out of habit , take ibuprofen , warm pack on jaw and softer diet, iv done all this and it does ease a bit , my ear hurts from the swelling of the jaw which I find more painful ! I'm always aware of my jaw now so even sitting in the car or watching tv , take 5 to relax and put your mouth in the rest position which is Swallow, tongue to roof of mouth, teeth NOT touching , lips together . That's the rest position try and be aware to do it at all time and it will ease , good luck !

In January I laid some rolled roof fibreglass insulation wearing protective glasses and a facemask. I had finished but for a surplus roll which went down unevenly and to correct it I had to crawl between two horizontal roof supports at floor level. Why did I bother ??? As I did this, loose fibreglass laid in this area, or brick roof dust? got under my mask and l choked badly. I haven't noticed any side effects since, unless I have to cough and then I worry that fibres may have got lodged in my throat. I do bring up flem (a cold?) but there is no blood. I certainly coughted and spat a lot at the time and my breathing tube almost stayed closed. A frightening experience. Should I see an ENT specialist to have my throat examined?
