It is a constant dull ache that's always there, get extremely bloated when eating so try to avoid eating as much as I can which isn't healthy? I've been on omeprozole and lanzoprezole but they seem to make the pain worse and cause acid in throat. Does anyone have same problem? An what has helped it ? It's driving me mad I use to enjoy exercising etc but the pain just won't allow me anymore. Thank you

Have you had your gallbladder checked? If you have stones or an inflamed gallbladder, it can cause those symptoms, it did for me. Ask to get an ultrasound, if anything, it will at least rule it out. Good luck!

Hi Im 23. 2 months ago I had intermittent Diarrhea and pain all over my abdomen. The diarrhea stopped, but since then the pain in my abdomen when I eat is unbearable at times, and I move my bowels between 2 and 5 times per day. I am extremely exhausted all the time, and my abdomen gets very distended and painful. Before this, I had gastritis and acid reflux in my stomach, and take acid inhibitors every day. My GP tried anti biotics at first, which didnt make a difference. He referred me then for a colonoscopy, but the waiting list is 8 months and I can barely function or go to work because of the pain, exhaustion, and frequesnt trips to the toilet. It doesnt seem to matter what I eat, whether its vegetable soup or a burger, the pain an need to go to the toilet seems the same. someone please help me!

I suffer from terrible indigestion, i am on a high dosage of Omeprozol for this, which i sometimes have to double up. If i havent eaten anything i can feel the acid in my stomach bubling away and it is rather uncomfortable. I have stages where I vomit after the majority of my meals, if i have had a drink 10 minutes either side of eating, most of what i have eaten will come up. This leaves me constantly hungry, and making the acid worse. I often lose weight when this happens (usually 2-5lbs in a few days) but I do tend to put it back on when eating normaly again. I am NOT forcing myself to be sick. It can come over at any point, especially if bending over. I have had lots of blood tests, an MRI scan, Barium meal, Ultrasound, gastropocy and more blood tests. Nothing has shown up so the hospital have discharged me. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same symptoms as you. I have been through all the same tests several times and take the same medication. Unlike you,in the last 25 years,I have had two Nissen Fundoplications to tighten the sphincter and repair the hiatus hernia. However, the sphincter muscle has stretched once again and (probably due to my age) my GP says I must resign myself to the misery of acid reflux for the rest of my days. I humbly suggest that your hospital may be putting their costs before your wellbeing and that you continue to complain until they agree to tighten your sphincter as well.

i need some advise please regarding upset stomach , Am 24 , i get nausea every mornings mainly when i wake up early , and i always wake up with a white/yellow tongue and very dry month, i have no appetite what so ever and feel like vomiting , i sometimes have to force my self to eat , i have been suffering from this for more than two years , i have been to my doctor i had several blood tests all came back clear , but i am still suffering everyday and all the doctor has said is to stay away from dairy products and fruit juices and fizzy drinks, i use to drink lots of orange juice 2L or more a day and stopped smoking , i dont drink alcohol, my doctor thought i have acidity problem in my stomach , but he only gave me some random tablets to reduce stomach acid, but i noticed the tablets he gave me made my stomach worse !! when i went back to him , he just told me to stay away from dairy and fruits , not medicine , its now getting very frustrating, i am quiet a thin person i struggle to gain weight and by having this diet every day( no dairy ie milk, cheese, choclate , and fruits etc ) it is not helping me !! please help me

2 litres of OJ daily is way too much! I'm surprised you didn't turn orange! One glass a day (200-250mls) is OK as part of your five a day. Try drinking plain water instead. Chicken and fish are easier to digest than red meats, and rice and carrots are less likely to cause trouble to sensitive digestions. Bananas are also good. Try to eat small meals, and drink liquids between meals rather than with them. Avoid frequent/strong coffee too. Yoghurt is easier to digest than milk or cheese or chocolate and contains beneficial bacteria. Talking of bacteria, get the doctor to test you for the presence of the bacteria h. pylori in you stomach - a now well-known problem which can be fairly easily treated. Lastly, don't worry too much about gaining weight: everyone's build is different and many people stay quite slim until their mid-thirties. Better to aim for a varied and healthy diet & lifestyle!

It might be due to LOW stomach acid - It seems very strange to many people to hear this as it is counter intuitive, but it is well worth getting Dr. Jonathan Wright's book 'Why Stomach Acid is Good for you' (or search you-tube for him talking about acid reflux. His book explains the symptoms and effects of low stomach acid and how to go about treating it. You can find the book on Amazon for about £9.00

Hi to everyone it is possible that some of you have LOW stomach acid, as well as having acid reflux, in which case taking anti acids will not help. Most people are misdiagnosed as having too much acid in the stomach when in actual fact they have too little. The symptoms are similar.there are plenty of great websites on low stomach acidity which are well worth reading. Good luck

Just out of interest, sometimes Acid Reflux can be caused by LOW stomach acid. This seems to go against what all the doctors/antacid medicine prescribers would like you to believe, but Dr.Jonathan Wright, an American MD has done years of research and has discovered that 90% of refluxers visiting his clinic actually have LOW stomach acid. Obviously this leads to lack of nutrients being absorbed and antacids/PPIs only make the problem worse. In August this year I started to have very uncomfortable throat symptoms and then realised that I had acid reflux (I am 46 years old, female) and visiting the doctor and being put on first omeprazole (made me feel worse) and then Zantac (still no better!)made me do some research. I know that most Doctors seem to whack you on these pills without checking first as it's virtually impossible to get your stomach acid levels checked in this country. There is a simple test that you can do :http://www.ehow.com/way_5645330_alternatives-stomach-acid-test.html Please do read Dr Wrights book and you can type his name into youtube along with 'acid reflux' and watch a video. I have started his stomach acid replacement scheme and am one week in, not cured yet but apparently it can take many weeks or months before the stomach can produce enough acid to prompt the spincter into shutting properly and stopping acid (even the weak acid that your daughter may be producing will irritate an oesophagus)going in the wrong direction. Hope this will be of help, I am just a normal lady who has been doing lots of research as the doctors can't always seem to get the answers right!

i think you might have a case of GERD Gastroesophageal reflux disease What it is basically its when the stomach breaks down the food it naturally releases chemicals like hydrochloric acid which is a powerful acid hense why it is used for the process of breaking down your food so basically what you might have is that some acid from your stomach leaks backwards from the stomach into the esophagus which is the long tube connected from your mouth to the stomach Symptoms can include heartburn although that isnt neccasary in all cases constipation which is why you are bloated and GERD could have an affect on your metabolism as it slows it down which is why you might be overweight< you could also get dry coughs mainly at night as the acid triggers in your mouth resulting a dry cough< you maybe have more mucous in your mouth throat than you normally should have as GERD involves buildup of mucous as mucous is a defensive mechanism for the acid reflux and yes mucous does play a big part in bad breath as it is a haven for bacteria> ermm thats all i know but hope it helps and just check it out and the symptoms and if you think you might have it then please consult this with your doctor strongly and dont take no for an answer its your life you control it hope you find a cure

Please please help Ive suffered with acid reflux for years but when diagnosed with high bp I gave up coffee and cigarettes and my stomach problems went away, however they are back worse than ever and Iam now on esomprazole 20 mg daily and it doesn't seem to be doing any good,my mouth and tongue feel as if they are on fire,I don't know if its the bp meds but I've been on them for 5 months and this really bad acid and stomach pain started a month ago and I really can't take anymore its bloody agony

i know how you feel im going through the same at the moment,

Its a nightmare Susan I've now got the bp under control but the pain like a corkscrew in the centre of my chest just under the sternum is horrific however I do have anxiety due to my visit to the hospital which I can't get rid off so Iam always producing acid, but the facial flushing and overheating my doc keeps putting down to anxiety,I never knew you could suffer so much from acid reflux and anxiety

I suffer from gas and wind, my food ferments in my stomach, but recently I learned that I am not producing enough hydrochloric acid in my stomach, so I can not produce the enzyme to break down food in my stomach, so I have stsrted taking a zinc and vitiman B complex, which helps me produce more hydrochloric acid to produce the enzyme needed to break down my food.

Hello Gemma, first of all, don't feel ashamed or embarrassed. Your condition id more common than you may beleive. If your teeth are healthy and gums are healthy, this may not be the cause of your bad breath. Certain stomach conditions can develope this symptom as well, such as acid reflux, or excessive stomach acid. I would suggest asking your dentist just to make sure it is not dentally related. If not contact your GP and explain your problem fully, they may be able to run tests and prescribe you medication to control your condition. If you have further problems, contact your dentist or gp for further information.

Richard, that yellow liquid is almost certainly bile not acid and PPIs like omeprazole won't help prevent it (since it's alkaline, rather than acid-related). It must be refluxing into the stomach from the duodenum. Speak to your doctor about taking a motility agent such as metoclopramide or domperidone if it is considered safe for you to do so.

I am only 23 and have been having alot of pain from my stomach for the last year which just suddenly came on. It is an intermittant problem but bothes me alot more than it doesnt. Its a really painful stabbing type pain at the top of my stomach which makes me feel sick and eventually causes diarrhea. At first it caused me to loose a stone in weight and used to make me very dizzy. i do seem to have a problem with to much stomach acid and get acid reflux. I cannot drink alcohol as it makes me sick up blood and cause unbareable pain in my stomach. Im not sure if its linked but since about the same time this started i have had on going problems with cystitus (basically its always burning a bit) but acti boitics never get rid of it. i have been to hospital and had a camera check as they thought i had an ulcer or the bacteria infection, which i had neither. they checked for gaul stones, celiac, anemia. the doctors now keep telling me to take acid reducer tablets which do help a little bit with the reflux but they dont do anything about the pain and nor do over the counter product eg gaviscon. The doctors are now going down the route of IBS but i really dont believe that is it but they are basically telling me its a guess cos they have no idea and they may never be able to do anything but i cannot leave this much longer as its really painful and upsets my daily life. I hope you can please help as i am really stuck. Alex.

hey i have also had unprotected sex and found i was getting sharp pains in my abdomen unfortunatly i collapsed in school and got taken to the hospital by ambulance i then found out that i had an illness called gasteritis it is the acid in your stomach there is too much of it and the only place for itto go is up so it travels to your stomach/abdomen area and thats what the sharp pains are if you have a serious and untreated amount like me then the acid can get trapped round your lungs and circulates through the blood. i have experienced this and im not tellin you this to scare you but i think you should go to your doctor and get it checked out the longer you wait the more serious it gets dont leave it to late i was in surgery for 12 hoursand in hospital for a month.

Hello. After a bit of research on the net, I found that sometimes a smell like poo can come from your nose and mouth as a result of low acid levels in your tummy when digesting food. I did not validate this with a doctor, but have found that adding a supplement (Hcl) found at health food stores seems to provide some temporary help, though I don't know how long these pills should be taken or if they are healthy. Try do a search on the net about low acid levels in the stomach and see what you can find! It makes sense, the food can sort of rot? In your tummy when acid is low....good place to start with a nutritionist?? Hope this helps some...

For as long as I can remember I have suffered badly with acid reflux - to the point where I want to be sick. I have given up alcohol because of it as I feel ill long before getting drunk. I am also unable to finish even a can of fizzy drink and even still drinks like other people. I do not smoke, and am not overweight. I have found that eating regularly (little and often) helps keep the acid in my stomach down so I can manage better, but am always worried that it will flair up. Acid suppressants make no difference. I am also unable to burp on demand (only occasionally by accident and never when I feel it is needed - eg after a fizzy drink).

I have exactly the same problem but even eating little and often doesn't seem to be helping. I have mouthfuls of refluxed food and acid after pretty much everything I eat and drink, apart from cold water. My BMI is 21; I've given up dairy, caffeine, acidic food and alcohol but nothing seems to help, not even the proton pump inhibitors which I've been taking for 3 years now. I'm worried because I'm only 19 and I don't want to live with this forever. My doctor assures me that taking these medications long term won't affect my health but I'm not sure I agree after doing some research. My doctor doesn't really seem to be taking this seriously, how about yours?

Mine just ends with sort of 'bubbles' running up and down my throat. Have you heard the term GORD? It stands for gastro-osophical reflux disorder (check spelling). Not that I'm any expert!

i was wrongly diagnosed with ibs after i did more test i was diagnosed with an infection called helicobactorployri it is inflammation of the stomach lining it hurts after every meal you feel realy bloated you also have diarrhoea and constipation i was giving 2 different antibotics and an acid tablet for 2 weeks. i have to now keep taking the acid tablet so it doesnt return for aslong as the doctor tells me to. the acid tablet is called omerprazole which as some realy nasty side effects such as head aches diarrhoea.
