    Stretch Marks

Lines on the skin that start off as raised red lines, before turning purple, and then slowly fading into flat silvery streaks. Stretch marks happen when the skin is stretched a lot over a short period of time, such as during pregnancy. Read more →

I have small cream coloured dots about a couple of millimetres big around my vulva which become more prominent ofthe skin is stretched, I've had them for as far back as I can remember and they don't itch or anything. I just wanted to know if this is normal? Should the skin around the vulva, sort of above the clitoris have these spots/bumps or should the skin be smooth?

I have a little extra stretched bit of skin beside my clitoris and I was just wondering if this is normal? or if a boy would find it off-putting? I'm really quite self-conscious about it and it makes me really nervous when I'm with a boy in case he tries something. I've even considered surgery when i'm old enough as I'm only fifteen.

I am 20 and I have had sex before, though not that much. However I have masterbated regularly for years. When I was a younger probably 5-6 years ago I had a skin tag removed, that was over my vagina. Apparently it was just a random separation of tissue from using tampons and is quite normal. My problem is that I get stinging pain around my vagina after or during sex and masterbation. Is this something to do with the surgery? Or is just that my vagina isn't stretched enough for sex? If it is because of the skin tag, like damaged nerves or something from the surgery, can it be fixed? thanks

You need to see a doctor - many women experience pain when engaged in intercourse and it is normally something that can be corrected. God made sex to be fun - not painful

my very large labia has been going on for about 2 years and it gets quite uncomfortable at times and it is hard to put a tampon in. it is like over stretched skin just hanging in :P. i dont like it but im too embarrassed to talk to any one about it. seeing as im getting serious in my relationship its lowering my confidence 'cause i dont want him to see it :/. what is the price for the surgery and where can it be done?

When I was your age I was embarrassed in a similar way.In those days of compulsory school showers other girls noticed so I had a variety of hurtful nicknames and 'jokes' that shattered my self esteem. As for relationships I was convinced that any boy would be repulsed or worse laugh so shied away from them. When I was 17 the inevitable happened as I met the boy who is still my husband 35 years later. The relationship reached the stage when I had to tearfully confide my fears.Having to show him I was relieved when he said it looked 'cute'and started to rebuild my confidence. I have had no problems with subsequent love making,[As a good lover he uses them in foreplay],child bearing or general health. In fact I'm sure any nurse would see you as being well in the range of 'normal'. Surgery, of course, was not available in my day--something I have long since been grateful for. From what I know of it the procedure can leave you in pain and takes some time to settle down. So my advice is to start valuing yourself as a person rather judging yourself by your body.

I am 24 and have 3 children it has taken its toll on my body my stomach muscles are loose and my skin in saggy and stretched, I look at myself and just want to cry I can't do any activities with my children because I'm so conscious. I had a c-section with my last baby and to make me feel even worse my skin below my belly button is completely numb, I burn it frequently on my cooker because I don't feel it. Is there anything I can do to make my stomach muscles go back to normal? Plz help c

To the person who stretched their ear: I stretched my ears to 5mm, and they stank as well even after cleaning them every day. (I got bored of them, took them out and my ears went back to normal :]). It depends on your body. The smell is dead skin cells shedding inside the stretch. Different people shed more skin I guess. Just keep cleaning them, and try to buy bone, wood or metal plugs/tunnels, as they're more natural for your ears. Plastic is bad as air can't pass through the jewellry. Hope this helps :]

I'm 13 and a virgin, for about 6 months I've noticed almost like stretched skin on my vagina, I think it's called the Laybia. It gets itchy at night and in the morning it's all swollen and sore. It's only stretched on the left side and I can stretch it about 1 and a half inches. I hate it. You also can imagine what place I am on not knowing what to do in this situation as I cannot just go to the doctors whenever as I have school and I would have to tell my parents. Please help as I'm not sure what to think.

This is probably part of your normal anatomy and nothing to worry about, but there might be something else going on (for example an infection). It sounds like it would be a really good idea to go to your local GP or sexual health clinic just to get it checked out. I know it's really scary and feels horribly embarrassing, but if you can manage, it would be a really good idea to talk to someone like your mum about this. I'm sure she would be really understanding and sympathetic (you could also ask a sister, cousin, aunty, or gran that you're close to). If you really don't want to go down this route, I suggest you ask that your parents take you to the doctor for some other reason ('tummy aches' etc) - anything you tell the doctor will be private between the two of you, they're not allowed to tell your parents. But really, it's best to be open with your mum - she won't be angry or upset, just worried that you're ok.

Hi! I am an Asian male, 20 years old. I was circumcised when I was 12 and have not engaged in any sexual activity before. Almost all of my male friends are circumcised but I have not really seen any penises up close, so I am not really sure if I have been circumcised properly. I am worried about the way I was circumcised, I think too much skin was left under my penis, about two inches when stretched. I fear that this may interfere normal sexual activity, i.e. it may pose difficulty during entry and may be stretched too far. My penis doubles its flacid length when fully-erect, but I can pretty much stretch the "extra"-skin in the same way when it is flacid.

No, it should not interfere with normal sexual performance. In fact, it is probably an advantage to have some left-over skin to aid you in masturbation. Yes, most men of all ages do, and it is normal (it cleanses the contaminants in your prostate, and studies have shown that reduces chances of prostate cancer). If the head of the penis is free of enveloping skin, it shouldn't be a problem. Look at some pictures on the internet and you'll see there really isn't a "normal" penis, they come in all varieties!

im 16 and i stretched my ear and its smells really bad its a 12mm but its horrible, one i would advise against it but noone else i know who has their ear stretched seems to have the same problem. i clean the damned thing every day but nothing anyone out there can help please post something

i have stretch marks in the same places. they occur when the skin stretches during growth. some people skin can cope with being stretched others cant. they will eventually go white, and so you can barely see them, thats what mine look like now.

Hello Zoe. Dont worry everyone masturbates and you havent stretched any skin. To stretch skin you have to hang weight on the skin. You have gone from a girl to a young lady and your labia vagina lips have grown like the rest of your body. PS your boyfriend will love your vagina what ever it looks like. Les.

I am 26 and after having my first child a year ago I have been left with very bad stretch marks and very badly stretched skin. I had a cesarian section and think this could have contributed to the skin problem, it hangs down at the bottom of my stomach nearly over the top of my pubic hair area. I have been losing a lot of weight recently and the skin seems to getting smaller but it is very saggy and quite tender at times. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this?

They are called Fordyce Spots, and are totally normal! Many women have them. They vary in size, and tend to be a bit bumpy. In fact, both men and women can get them.

Hi, I have got what look likes lots of small White lumps under my skin on my balls which you can only really see when the skin is stretched. It is never sore or itchy and doesn't cause any problems but I'm just not sure what it is. My girlfriend says it's just hair folicals but I have never been sure. Can you enlighten me please. Thankyou.

I'm 16 and have never been intimate, my boyfriend and I have talked about it, but I don't want to tell him that I'm embarrassed by my vagina. When I was younger I masturbated but I didn't know what I was doing wrong and my parents would tell me off (I was like 7) but basically because I did it so much, it has stretched one of my outer lips really badly and it's all wrinkled like an old woman's, and the other one is also stretched but not as bad, I am so humiliated by it but I was too young to understand....I'm scared he'll look at it in disgust and leave me because its so horrible :(

Don't worry about it, something similar happened to me although I was a bit older (8 or 9) and my right labia is very stretched and now protrudes slightly. I was very embarrassed about it but my boyfriend was very reassuring. I'll put it this way, if your boyfriend is truly right for you, he wont care what you look like at all. If he has a problem with it, time to find a better guy I'd say. Hope this helps.

Thank you! I feel a lot better knowing I'm not the only one :)

I have a lump on my nose from my boil. I've been told that there's nothing I can do about it because its just the way my skin had stretched, but its worth going to your doctor about. X

Skin is stretchable, but you will need to pull on it daily for several weeks before it will be stretched enough to retract completely.

Im 15 and have lots of little white spots or skin tags? Whenever the forskin is stretched or when im erect, is there a way to get rid of them?

It's perfectly normal to have one longer than the other - in much the same way that most women have one breast larger than the other, and men usually have one testicle which hangs lower than the other. Contrary to the media's portrayal of 'perfect' people, most of us aren't perfectly symmetrical at all and that is completely normal. As for the little dots, they could be something called fordyce spots which are totally normal. If you are in any way concerned that you may have an STI then you should pay your family planning clinic a visit and they should be able to check for you. Your GP can also do this, or refer you.

To get actual foreskin back with all the extra nerves, no this is not possible. HOWEVER, skin does stretch and some guys have had some success with wearing rings just under the glans and stretching skin over them. Obviously, this would be a very slow process and would probably take several months before you would have the skin stretched to your goals. Plastic surgeons have also developed skin stretching techniques to create skin for people who have been severely burned, but I don't know if anyone has developed a technique to create lost foreskin. You might wish to check with both plastic and cosmetic surgeons.
