Hi I'm 29 year old. I'm in a relationship since 3 years now. I never had an UTI untill met my present partner. Since we started being sexually active I started to get UTI. Very often. Each month or basically after sexual contact. I blamed myself for 2 years untill January 2012 when he stopped smoking weed, what was his habit to have before going to bed each day till January 2012. When he stopped from jan till June I was ok. No more UTI no more visits to the GP:). My partner smoked again in June and recently starts to smoke again. My problem came back. Recently i was on antibiotics twice in 5 weeks!!! And prior that one time antibiotics didnt work and I had to repeat the course. I see a link between his habit and my painful problem but no one believes me. I eat well, don't drink, don't smoke. I addition i need to say that my partner has got a close relative who had a stroke at the age of 50. Question: what should I do? Can weed really be affecting me? Is my partner at risk of having a stroke if continious smoking? Thank you for your help. C.

This may be hygene (sorry about spelling) because if you shave without having soap and water on your skin it will cut you and you will get germs. Another reason for this may be if you shave one stroke and without rinsing it shave another stroke. My last conclusion is that you need to change your shaver to a different brand and buy a new one every one or two weeks. Hope i have been of help. :)

I am a woman of sixty seven and I have been suffering from anxiety and depression for two years even though I have been on medication.I had a mini stroke a few months ago although it didn't leave me in a bad way it gave me a shock which didn't help. When I speak to my GP she says she can't give any different drugs because of the stroke.I have got to a stage now of not knowing what I can do. I have used all different ways of self help but I am still the same I live alone and feel really frightened at times. My son told me to get in touch with you after seeing a programme of yours and told me that you had suffered with this illness in the past.I just want to be my old self again before its too late.

Prior to my stroke I suffered from red feet which looked like masses of broken carpillaries. This condition cleared up as a result of taking steriods for another problem. After my stroke they reappeared more aggressively, both my feet are now very red and now the redness is on both knees. My doctor referred me to a vascular surgeon who cancelled the appointment saying that the condition was cosmetic and the NHS could not help with this problem. I'm finding it very embarrasing and worrying because the condition is progressing. Your comments would be very much appreciated.

My brother is 78 years old and had a haemorraghic stroke 7 yrs ago. For six months he has been suffering with red rashes on his body, it looks like red pin pricks; on his hands, feet, inside his arms, back of his neck, in his ears. He has had a clotting screen and this has come back just under borderline. His bilirubin is high too and he has had low Platelet count with small red blood cells. He has blood in his urine (for over 7 weeks); his kidneys are OK, bladder checked, just not emptying it properly, his prostate is OK for his age, although no PSA test has been offered (he goes to the toilet 8 times per night and when he has the urgency to go, he has to go immediately). Could the fact that his blood is thin causing these permanent rashes on his skin, could there be a risk of another stroke and perhaps the reason for blood in his urine? I know there are alot of problems, but he would really like to get these problems sorted out. Thank you for your advice.

Hello! I'm 22 with left hemi cp! I have no use of my left arm/hand & I can walk (started walking at 22 months) but I find it can get painful and very tiring after a while. I've worn splints on my leg all my life & still do now, i also have daily physio to try and keep muscle tightness under control. I had 2 operations aged 9 & 13 on my leg which got rid of my tip toe walking. I've also had botox to relieve tightness in my arm & leg which was great I don't have epilepsy, but I do have associated visual perception problems, I struggled at Maths because of it. I would also say that I've learnt since I've become an adult that hemiplegia is a condition which does need life long management. (Stupidly my parents & I thought that tightness in my muscles would only be a problem when growing) I've never ever let my disability stop me, I live independently and study at university, I learnt to swim, and ride a bike, so I do think anything is possible, it might be more difficult, but I think hemiplegia does make you loads more determined! Hemihelp is a fabulous charity which I would recommend for any advice & information.

my question is I am 48 and have no sex drive I cant have HRT because I had a stroke when 40 and when I went to see gp told me nothing he could give me as I have a young partner which loves sex as for me I dont enjoy it or try to avoid it when possible

Hi Liz, an exercise bike would be ok as long as you maintain a relatively neutral posture. Try to avoid rounding forward through your spine as this will put more pressure down onto your pelvic organs and muscles. A pelvic health physio can teach you some other management strategies to help reduce the prolapse and restore good pelvic floor muscle function.
