Hi i'm a 16 year old girl and about 2-3 years ago i had an accident in which i fell over and landed on a metal pole. It cut open my knee and had to have several stiches. When this accident happened i could not move my knee, when i tried to stand up it locked and that's when the blood started to come out. A few weeks later i had the stitches removed but my joint was still very inflamed and swollen and i was still on crutches. My knee now every now again sort of locks and it feels like something has popped out of place like a muscle, i rub the side of my knee where the pain is and it goes back into place. I'm still concerned as it has been 2-3 years since my accident and i still get a lot of pain.

hi. I was rushed into hospital in may 2012, with suspected septic arthritis in right knee. after examination at hospital, i was told it was celutlitus and was treated for it. Since then i am in constant knee pain which gets worse the more i use the knee. When the pain gets realy bad the knee area gets swollen and very red. This happens 2 or 3 times a week, which leaves me bed ridden for days. I have had xrays, mri scans, and blood tests and my doctor, hospital consultants and surgeons are at a loss of what it could be. All i have been prescribed is lots pain killers and physio which leaves me in pain after physio for up to 48 hrs or more. Is there any one out there that can help me.

Did they test you for Lyme disease? Please suggest it.

I'm 15 and have JRA(juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) and it effects my knee's and ankle's currently and they are swollen and i recive cortisone injection to reduce this, however my left wrist is painful sometimes and less flexiable than my right wrist although its not swollen, could this still be JRA?

I am 32 and still suffer from JRA. It is possible that it is in your wrist and u dont always get swelling, feel the wrist when it is painful and see if it is warmer than the other wrist this is often an indicator of inflammation in the joint. Hope this helps.PS see your GP

I occasionally suffer from pain in my right knee. My left knee is fine. It clicks and sometimes when I am in bed and when I move it feels like the bones are sliding back into place in my knee. Is there anything I can do to prevent further damage? I think I suffered from a fallen arch on my right leg years ago so this could be a factor to why the knee is weaker than the left.

It may take more time than you think to regain all the muscle strength etc..Speak to the gp and see if this is a normal situation for this procedure.. Chronic pain, could possibly effect your mindset and yes, this will also effect how quickly you heal.. please consult your gp for the pain releif and advise of the type of physio and excersise you have been prescribed to do. (I changed physio, and found better result as a different tehnique was used)

Please can you help me? My right knee was burnt by burning plastic and badly scared When I was 7yrs old I fell at school, broken bolltes were in the unkept playground so my knee got badly cut. Hi, I'm 17 and I've just been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in my knee. My knee was considerably swollen for about a month and I had to have water drained from it on 2 occasions. Now that the swelling has subsided I've noticed that I have several stretch marks on the front of my knee and I don't know what to do to get rid of them. Is there anything? They're very pinky/purple at the moment. Will they fade? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Heather

as in most cases my knee injury occurred during sports i.e football, it happened when i took a corner. my knee gave a dull loud crack when i kicked the ball and i couldn't walk on it, within half an hour my knee had swollen either side of the knee cap which was fluid, i then couldn't bend my knee past a certain point without being in pain with the ligaments behind my knee. The fluid subsided but the pain continued, i can now use my leg but i have to wear a heavily padded support because i still occasionally cracks and is tender when i have to walk. the injury happened over 2 months ago and the doctors nor hospital were able to help me.

Dan. i think this may help. im 13 and my knee cap keeps popping out. i have properly dislocated it twice in 1 year. a knee support helps alot during p.e/games. try to avoid sharp movements and quickly turning around to talk to mates. if the dislocates, go to A&E. when my knee dislocated i tore the tissue in my knee and chipped the bottom of my thigh bone. because i tore the tissue lots of blood made my knee swell up so i had to have it drained. 1/4 a litre came out of my knee that night, and i was made to wear a splint which just holds the knee in place and keeps the leg straight and i was on crutches for 4-6weeks. as i said before, a knee support help alot.

I have pain in my left knee. sometimes when I walk my knee just gives in on me I try to put weight on it and it won't take the wait it feels like my knee is bending backwards. I've had a few falls on both knees in the past and 2 years I slipped on the ice and fell on my left knee. these last few months the pain in my knee has got worse and my knee keeps giving in from me. I have had physio in the past but even the exercises I was given don't work any more. I've seen my doctor and he said me knee is stable and he has referred me. i just wondered what to expect and what could be causing this problem?

Hi my name is Vanessa, im 17 years old, im 5'6 in height and 7.4 st in weight. i've had trouble with my knee for a couple of years now. the problem is that whilst standing up, i cant bend my knees all the way down to the floor without support, i feel tention around both knees when ever i try to bend down. Once i eventually bend my knees to the floor, i cannot get back up without support. There have been a number of occasions where my knee has swollen up and has been very painfull! I have been to the doctors 2-3 years ago and she told me to take ibuprofen tablets, however i want something that will solve my knee problem not hide it! I always loved to dance, but my knee problems are restricting me to do so!

Hi, I'm Sid. I've had a knee problem since when I was 16, and am now 26. Basically, it all started in Africa, Sierra Leone where I had the injury. Couple of days after when I got injured, my knee started swelling up rapidly and painfully at the same time. I then went to the hospital for some treatments, where they used to drained my left knee on a weekly basis. Over the years, I haven't felt any pain from my left knee unless, if I received a knock playing football. But gradually since the injury, my LEFT KNEE has gone slightly bent on the inside. My knee looks terrible at the moment but, It doesn't hurt me what so ever. Even my friends sometimes says "my knee looks really bad when am walking". So, is there any possibility that I could have my knee Straighten up again, because am really uncomfortable about the way it looks at the moment please? If you need let me know and I'll send a picture via email etc, thanks.
