Conditions with symptom: 'swollen tonsils'
I've had a sore throat for about a week now, I took a look today and can see that my tonsils are very swollen (patchy red and white) with a few white spots on them. My glands are very swollen as well. My tonsils are gradually getting more swollen. However, I have no other symptoms of tonsillitis; Having had it a couple times in my childhood I know its not that.
You might have glandular fever

For years now ive had permanently swollen tonsils and have been to the doctors numerous times. They checked for tonsillitis and glandular fever and both came back clear. Ive had swabs taken as well as given antibiotics etc and nothing has changed. The doctors have now put on my record that i have permanently swollen tonsils but aren't doing anything about it even though i struggle to eat, swallow tablets, at times struggle to breathe and find it very uncomfortable to sleep as i have to have my hand under my head as my neck is really sensitive to any pressure including clothing and jewellery.
On Embarrassing Bodies,There was this woman whom had her tonsils out, i didn't watch the whole program just the end. But my tonsils were much bigger than hers even when they aren't swollen! And i haven't had them out, they have wholes in them (craters i think there called) witch sometimes get food stuck inside. What do i have to do to get them taken out. I'm in a lot of pain, sometimes vomiting and they smell. I'm missing to much school because of them and i need some advice.... please comment and help.
I get tonsilitus at least 2-5 times a year, however, in between that my tonsils flair up and it causes my glands to inflame too. My tonsils are also rather large and I get food stuck in them which also causes my tonsils to become sore and for my breath to smell. I'm 18 so i have put up for this for quite a while now and im fed up. Does this make me a suitable candidate for a tonsillectomy?
I have the same problem, have just been to the doctors and they referred me to ENT department at hospital and they gave agreed to take them out. Hope this helps.
This was the same for my daughter for 3 1/2 yrs throughout her university life. She had them lasered last July and hasn't been ill since! It has changed her life. As she says 'I now have a life'
I suffered really bad with tonsillitis and Quincy throat as a child. I had my tonsils taken out but still developed Quincy throat. I am now in my 30 and have been diagnosed with strep throat, I have been on antibiotics for 3 days but it seems to be getting worse? I have the swollen neck, struggling to swallow saliva, swollen tounge and lock jaw? Should I go bsck to my GP?
My tonsils have swollen that much they are starting to block the back of my throat and touch. What should i do?
You should go straight to a&e so they can give you antibiotics and fluids through a drip. I get this a lot to the point where I can't breathe. Hope this was helpful!
Hi I've been suffering with slight swollen tonsils for about 2 weeks. With the occasional white gunk on them. Sometimes was able to get white stuff out of them but 2 lymphnods have swollen on my neck. Went to docs about it and he said its just a lymphnode and nothing to worry about. But recently when one of the nodes swells it makes my neck achy. Also have more whitr gunk on them than usual today. Should I go back or just ride it out?
Hi, been suffering the past 24 hours with pain in my right testicle and also a sore throat with swollen tonsils , could these been related??
I started with a sore throat yesterday and today it has just got worse o have got a yellow coating on the roof of my mouth and slightly on my tonsils. I have suffered with tonsillitis alot and it feels exactly like that, how long will it take for my tonsils to swell up of it is tonsillitis and is there a chance you can have tonsillitis and your tonsils wont swell? Thanks
