Hi I have previously been to the doctor who has told me I had skin tags on the edge and inside flap of my vagina, I was advised by her to remove them with a piece of cotton to stop the blood flow and they will fall off, I did this and the tags fell of successfully, however three years later (same partner) I have had two skin tags grow again!! is this normal? it seems to have happened after I have shaved my vagina could this have caused the tags to grow? or could this be something more serious like Genital warts? its really worrying me I don't want o have sex as don't want to pass anything onto my partner (female)please help. If this helps I had a cervical smear last year that was negative.

Hi, re skin tags, I have seen advertised on the net various creams/oils that can be applied that dry out these tags. Has anybody tried them and do they work? The ones I have seen all seem to be based in America, is there something available in this country?

I think I have skin tags around my vagina, and they are in one line down both sides of the opening. I did have some on my clitoris and they fell off so I was wondering if it is skin tags?

I have what seems to be two smallish skin tags on my inner labia near the entrance to my vagina which have appeared in the past few months, should I get them checked by a doctor? They don't hurt at all, haven't increased in size and I think they probably are skin tags?

Basically i have a lot of skin tags around my anus and theu flare up when i go to the toilet and some times without going. I feel very uncomfortable with them. When i was younger i only had the one which never caused a problem but now im 20 and more have appeared. Iv seen the doctor but hes offered me cream but it doesnt seem to work that good. Is this normal for skin tags to do this and what can i use to help prevent soreness ?

I have 3 very large, what I presume are skin tags on my anus. They are very large and very very itchy. Had these since I gave birth to my youngest child 10 years ago and I can not cope any more. They itch at night mostly, making me scratch until they bleed. Also recently I have discovered 2 small spots in side the tags. Please help me as I feel like I can not cope any more.

Hi, after suffering with 2 growing anal skin tags for about 5 years I decided I'd had enough. They were itchy and bled every time I had a bowel movement. I knew that my GP would dismiss them but I'm well trained at getting what I need out of the NHS so I exaggerated my problems slightly to get a referral to the hospital. Some people might disagree with this but living in one of the wealthiest countries in the world and having been working and making National Insurance contributions since the age of 16 I do not see why I should have to put up with these problems. Anyway I finally had my surgery on Tuesday. Since the surgeon was going to be elbow deep in my rectum anyway he said he would tie off/band any internal hemorrhoids. I was warned that cutting out the skin tags would most probably leave smaller tags/scar tissue as part of the healing process. I do have 2 small lumps about the size of a peppercorn but it was still worth it. The pain was pretty bad after, just a constant throbbing and there was quite a bit of blod and pus seeping out constantly. The best advice I can give if you do decide to go for this is start yourself on a sky high fibre and water diet 3 days or so before the surgery and take at least a week off work. Unfortunately i got constipated and wasn't able to have to have a BM until 3 days after surgery. The subsequent pain was the worst I've ever had and ended up having a panic attack and almost passing out on the toilet. Good luck! Its such a common problem so don't feel embarrassed about going to your doc. I'm only 26 and have had no kids and still got them. overall im happy with the results.

My grandaughter-4years old-has got small hard bumps on her arms, legs, stomach and near her privates. Her doctor has said they are skin tags, but I have skin tags and her bumps dont look anything like mine.could hers be warts? They dont look very nice ,is there anything we can use to get rid of them?

I have dozens of skin tags on my thighs and where my knicker elastic is and as I also have a vaginal prolapse and wear pads the combination means the tags become sore and chapped. I have used Sudocreme and a general antiseptic without success, my GP can't remove them as their cauteriser no longer works (!) and we cannot afford private treatment. I have decided to try a product that has all positive reviews - it may be liquid nitrogen - as there is no alternative. What are the risks?

You can buy freeze treatments but they are sold as treatments for veruccas/warts. You can get them in practically any chemist off the shelf- costs around £10. It works! - you spray the skin tag for around 30 sec until it turns completely white, then within 24 hours the skin tag falls off.

I'm 25 years old and I had my first born 6months ago and today I noticed something while I was washing in the shower. Where my wee hole is there is a piece if thin skin about 2cm ling hanging on and in my vagina there are two skin tags and my cervix is right at my opening. It kinda looks like minced beef. I'm hoping its just skin tags and a prolapsed uterus, but am really unsure. I suffer from herpes type two and my outbreaks are always mild little blisters never pieces of skin hanging. Please help.

I am in the same boat, I have LOADS of skin tags all around my neck, also under my arms. You can't get them removed by the NHS anymore, you have to pay. My dr said £80 to £100 pounds to get them all off. I can't afford that, but they really affect my confidence! I can see people looking at them. I would like to try the string method but I have so many it could take forever. Colin.

I had skin tags on my neck, and after doing some research I bought a bottle of iodine for less than £1. I applied it regularly (2-3 times daily) with a cotton but and within 2 weeks the skin tags died and fell off. Iodine does discolour the skin a little, but this is only temporary. The skin tags feel irritating for a couple of days, but those were the only problems I had. I would definitely use this method again to remove skin tags.

hi do you know if it is it ok to use on back passage? many thanks

Hi, like most people who have asked for help on this page, i have skin tags, not only do i have these skin tags on my neck, armpits,on my bottom (but not in or around my anus, but between vagina and anus) but under and below my breasts to my waist, around my stomach, all over my back,my thighs, i have been to my GP about these tags and he said tags are best left alone as they come under cosmetic surgery which seems not to be covered by NHS but, i am so upset and overwhemly embarassed by these ugly skin tags that i won't sleep in the same bed as my husband no more just incase he cuddles me and feels my ugly skin through my night clothes. I have always looked after my skin keeping myself clean and moisturised, these tags appeared during my pregnancy and just got worse even after my baby was born.. that was 5 years ago, you are my last chance of having a normal life again as my GP won't entertain such trivialitys as he puts it. please, please let me know how i can get rid of these ugly things that are ruining my life.

I am 21 yrs old , suffering from anal fissure for more than 6 months, and my anal developing skin tags started very small then they became bigger and bigger and irritating. I spoke to my surgeon and after all the complaining he finally gave me Botox injection but would not recommend remove the skin tags and he said most people just leave it as that n it is normal . Honestly I felt so angry because I never had those tags before only after my fissure how can it be normal ? And they are really irritating and I feel so embarrassed about them , I don't even thinking of having a boy friend due to those weird tags, I know guys like to discover around there so they ll find out eventually n would think that I am a dirty girl ? Well I am going to Asia and get those skin tags removed since Europe never want to do this for your sake, they considered this as cosmetic which is stupid.

That's wrong I got my skin tag removed under local anesthetic which took a long time to heal as its not the cleanest part of the body I still dread going to the toilet as its still painful at times so I'm going back to see the surgeon in June hope this helps

I am in exactly the same situation! I'm a 24 year old woman with an anal skin tag and a fissure too. It is painful and I bleed every time I go for a number 2. I've been to the doctor twice but they won't do anything about it. I'm very disappointed with the Nhs... I hardly think this is cosmetic!

Hello Susan - I had a very large number of skin tags removed by Thermology at Remedies in Exeter. All the skin tags were removed in about 30 minutes. I paid £50. I am thrilled that the skin tags have all gone, there is no scaring and the quality of care and treatment was professional.

After reading all the questions, i guess any little bump on the skin is a skin tag. And the GP's probably call them skin tags, but if you look at the picture you can see that they are not white bumps, or white pinky color skin etc. actually they look like little nipples, (and i mean little) I have a couple on my armpit and 1 close to my genital area and the don't bother me i guess i could have them removed but they don't bother me. I think I might have had some or something else like brown tags on my testicles and the demomtologist just freezed them off, no needle was used and it was painless. The skin tags that are like in the picture can be cut off yourself but they bleed, so my advice is to have freezed off. I think the GP's don't even know what there talking about when they say skin tags. I have no idea where u are but in the United States my doctor would not call any bump, wart, white bump skin tags.

I plucked up courage and saw my GP about skin tags on my anus and she said that I should leave them alone as they are not dangerous and do not bleed. So I have to put up with them. They do get a bit messy and I have to use a lot of toilet tissue and moist wipes. She said she would remove some tags from my body and one from my eyelid on friday without anaesthesia with scissors, which I am not looking forward to. She did say she could refer me to a surgeon about my rear-end tags but I said not to bother as I didn't realise they were so common and anyhow I thought I would have to wait a long time for a National Health surgeon as it is not urgent.

Tags dont have roots, warts do. Tags will bleed heavily if you rip or cut them off, but they should not "regrow" in the same spot, but you may continue to get them over time..

I had some skin tags under my armpit and was told to tie some cotton around the base of the tags to cut off the circulation, so i got my wife to do that for me and they dropped off after about 5-7 days. They were only about 0.5 of a centimetre.

I've heard that Tea Tree Oil can effectively remove tags. I have about a dozen tags on my face some are clustered and one is almost the size of a small pea and flat. Should I try the Oil and if so, how should I apply it. Thank you. .

I had most of the skin tags removed by the G.P. several years ago by the freezing process. There were a few left but small. After several years they began growing again and more have spread out and grown. They were increasing and getting bigger and bigger. I recently bought Tea Tree Oil in Shower Gel from the Body Shop. Since I have been showering with this nearly all of the small ones have disappeared and the big ones are reducing in size. I did not know this would happen. I will continue to use the Tea Tree Oil in the Shower Gel to see if it will get rid of all of them. This has not happened yet, but I have only been using this for a short amount of time. So far very good results. I bought this to remove strong body odour in the private areas of the body and I was sweating a lot. I have found it virtually almost removes the strong body odour and sweating. The reduction in skin tags was an extra benefit I did not expect. I hope this helps

Thanks for replying and your experience with the product. I will also try the shower gel and see what happens. Did the freezing process leave any marks or scars?

Hmm.. I went to the doctor a few years ago because I had these red 'things' down below which I was told were just skin tags and I shouldn't worry about them. They're still there and since seeing pictures, they look more like warts than tags and they bleed a lot too.. Any ideas?

These are skin tags, I dont know if you are overweight or not, but usually heavy people get those, they are caused by insulin resistance. I had them all around my neck and chest, once I lost 100 pounds and went to my healthy weight the tags just fell off.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and have several skin tags which have appeared on my left upper leg, is this normal? please can you advise if these skin tags will go on their own when my baby is born?

Hi, I have a problem with skin tags and as I am young I am very embarrassed by them. I have about 16 skin tags on my neck and some are very big, they don't hurt, but I hate the fact that they can be seen by people. I also have them under my armpits, and between my legs. I would like to know what are the ways of getting rid of them? and how long it takes as I have a lot? Thanks..
