This sounds like piles caused through straining. I'd buy some haemorrhoid cream, drink more water and eat more fibre.

I have multiple bowel movements throughout the day. The stools are thin, sometimes they have one side which is angular rather than round. I never feel that my rectum is completely empty and my vagina hurts after I have defecated, as though it were somehow attached to the rectum. I am kept awake at night by the pain from both vagina and rectum. Alternatively, if I have diarrhoea instead, my vagina then feels as though it is being stung by stinging nettles and I am unable to walk for the rest of the day.

Hey. I'm 23 with no kids or anything and I have exactly the same symptoms as you and I have been through all the tests (colonoscopy, defecating proctogram, anal manometry etc.) They concluded that I have rectal prolapse and rectocele, which basically means the rectum is prolapsing into the vagina. It can be fixed. In my case it looks like I'm having ventral rectopexy. Don't panic and look online forever until it gets worse, which is exactly what I did. Just go to the doctor go through the motions and they'll sort it out. Definitely too uncomfortable to carry on living with my love!

Hi, I'm a 51 yr old male and have a degree of pain in my right testicle after intercourse or after any 'personal self-attention'. The pain gradually eases but it is a throbbing pain and can be extremely annoying for a number of days. The pain reoccurs after ANY form of personal sexual activity - should I be concerned about this? Thanks

I'm 52 and have had the very same issue since I started having sex when I was 20. But my pain usually lasts no longer than 15 minutes. I never went to a doctor, or even mentioned it to anyone - this is the first time. Now I'm certainly no expert, but in over 30 years, it hasn't got any worse and no other symptoms have materialised, so I presume that it's just a normal thing with some of us blokes!?

I was told for years I had IBS. Two years ago I paid to see a consultant and was told I had diverticular disease. The constant pain and alternating bouts of diarrhoea/ small pellet like motions, absolute exhaustion, lack of concentration. The feeling that my rectum is dropping out when standing is ruining my life. I have also a vaginal prolapse and have a pessary inserted, I had a hysterectomy in 1976. I have to manually evacuate my rectum as my motions are so gundgy they seal it if not entirely cleared adding to the pain I have. Does anyone out there suffer these symptoms.

Have you had tests for a prolapsed bowel? I have all your symptoms and was diagnosed with diverticulitis a year after my hysterectomy in 2000. I have had the sigmoid colon removed and a resection which had many complications, Though I now still suffer from diverticulitis it is not as frequent. After some helpful physio for a prolapse bowel I can recommend that when you are on the toilet, put your feet on a low stool and lean forward with you elbows on your knees. You then need to take deep breaths using your diaphragm, if you try yawning taking deep breaths as you yawn, you will be using you diaphragm and will fell your abdomen moving rather than your chest and shoulders. This will help hard stools to move. Apparently we should all lean forward naturally anyway. It is the invention of toilets that stop our natural stance. If you think about crouching we automatically lean forward. This has been the best advice I had since my bowel problems began. Good luck. I would like to know how you get on.

I also suffer with diverticulitis - diagnosed 2010. Gas, constipation all the time. Then 2011 went to gasterentologist/surgeon to find out if anything could be done to help, had defacography told me to attend his wellness clinic, 8 sessions, on third visit nurse did a laser procedure for a "pocket" right at my rectum so I could evacuate better. I bled and could smell my own butt after that and dr. wouldn't see me because I quit his sessions! This made it worse, gas still a problem and now everyone at work can smell my butt too! Had to learn on my own how to evacuate completely in morning. I use gycerin suppositories if I don't feel like I had a complete evacuation. Sometimes, even that doesn't help and I get to work and the gas begins after sitting down for a while, which I cannot control long enough to get to the bathroom after that "procedure" for the pocket. Without a complete evacuation - then gas and pain. Evacuation sometimes consists of small pellets or even more bizzare, thin ribbon like sheets as if something has been smashed. I get pain on both lower sides. I have to take anitbiotics when the smell of the gas gets "horrible". I know I have infection then. But no dr. ever told me about that either...I found out on my own that antibiotics would make that horrible smell go away for awhile. Reading the post by Mary of bowel prolapse, I wonder if my problems began after my hysterectomy in 1995. If the divertic. is a result of incomplete evacuation. (I used to be regular like clockwork and no problems there) A few months after the hysterectomy, I experienced my first pain on my right side and the ribbon-like stool. If I jump around or stretch I feel the urge coming but sitting on the toliet... nothing! Get up and start walking...oops...gas! I went to a gynecologist recently and he said the pain and thin stool is a result of spasms! Finding a good doctor here is a challenge - I don't know who can help. I'm glad I read your posts!

i experience pain in the bottom of the scortum and up into my abdomen on the left side. Feels like my testicle is twisted - but it is the tube/cord that that has the most pain. Just a dull throbbing/burning sensation - hard to manaage the pain as there is no cofortable position.

I have a small lump on left side of scrotum. It hurts when I touch/squeeze it. Standing up for 5 min results in throbbing pain. Lying down with my scrotum a little elevated makes the pain die out. I'm 21 years old BTW. what is it? Also before there was lump, I get a pain in my scrotum after sneezing. Frequently. Like 3/5 sneezes, pain occurs in my scrotum.

Hi Diane. can't help but have the same problem. especially in mornings. All morning. It lasts most of the day and ruins family events or major days in life. very difficult to pass stools although it is very small and just recently i have started to notice an orange kind of film coating. can anyone help???

I have this exact same problem, even using my fingers. It's frustrating because you can feel the poo inside you and you get really bloated but it just won't come out. I've made myself bleed terribly by doing this and I'm scared I'm causing myself more damage in the long run. I'm sorry I'm not answering your question but just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Oh, sweetie...I feel your pain. Please know you are not alone in this. I know it's seriously painful and it's embarrassing and there's not a guarantee it'll go away. But any kind of pain you endure will make you stronger. As trite as that might sound, I promise, it is true. You're right to steer clear of pain killers, which as you say do not help ease that kind of piercing pain, and will cause constipation and other serious difficulties (I speak from experience). Please take this opportunity to strengthen yourself. Do not accept defeat. Don't even talk about death. Don't even think it. Continue to be proactive where you can be. What you cannot heal, you must learn to accept. Know that you are better for it. You are able to cope with a very private, but very real pain, and you are strong. Please don't disregard what I am saying because it might sound a bit flaky. I know how this sounds, but I swear, I am not a flake. I am a person who shares in this very same problem. I know how bad it is. Trust me, I do. But you must not give in to pain. You must never let it destroy you. Conquer it. Make the pain work for you, not against you.

Thank you I really appreciate your words . An update I had a 3 surgery. The surgean decided the rubber band in rectum wasn't working so they cut the whole area and removed a big piece of skin basicly he removed all the fistula and the skin around.I do have a big shunk of no skin close to anus but it is no longer painful I see no puss and I believe its healing . I finally see myself in a better place I will be sarting work on 17 almost and I won't be able to sit for 6 weeks . I will say one of the hardest part of the process other than the pain iis trying to get financial help to cover for medical bills I'm close to$ 50.000 grand on med ical bills its stressing me olot .

Me and my boyfriend last had sex on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately his penis came out and when he went back in again quickly we think he hit my pubic bone before re entering me which resulted in a sudden jolt to his penis. He reached orgasm but later that night when he went to the toilet he noticed that the tip was particularly sensitive to the touch. When he touches the tip he can feel a throbbing pain going the penis - there is no apparent bruising. The pain is only when touched and if the skin is stretched back otherwise he is able to urinate without any pain. He has been having warm baths and no sex - can you advise on anything else to help ease the throbbing and how long should he expect to wait before the pain starts to ease?

HI, I am a 76 year old man and over the past few years I have had my left testical twice the size of my right one.On and off over the years I have had some throbbing pains. I did have a check up about 5 years back and they said it was fluid and not to worry. Now I have real pain all the time in both my testicals. This bothers me. My history is. 14 years back I had Bowel cancer where I was told if I did not take Chemo following the operation I was gambling and may not have long to live. I ignored this and went back to work 3 days after coming out of the hospital. I'm still around. Two years back I had cancer in the bladder. They removed it but since then I cannot pee properly it just dribbles and I am in constant pain around the bladder. I do not know how to give in to anything. It is just the way I am. (Obstinate) So back to the testical pain. Have you any advise on how I can get rid of the continual throbbing pain. It does tend to get me down. Thanks

I am 29, female and have been diagnosed with IBS, although I feel it is more than that. I have all the usual IBS symptoms but this morning was a classic example of why I think there's something seriously wrong with me. I woke up at 3.45am for work and felt that diahorrea pain in my gut, ran to the toilet and nothing. Then severe sharp stabbing pains up my vagina and rectum like I was being knifed to the point I was buckled over and screaming in agony! I know part of this was wind and stool movement but I get it too often now and sex hurts sometimes and I feel as if something is bulging down from my uterus, like maybe my intestines have collapsed and created a pocket just above my rectum and is filling up creating the pain and lump feeling. I have told my doctors this but still I get IBS drugs and pain killers. Anyone else have similar experiences? Plz help. Thanx.

I am in my early fifties and have a throbbing pain in left testicle. The pain is sometimes a sharp pain but not very strong or acute. It is very uncomfortable to sit for long periods. There is no swelling and I cant locate a lump. I have type 2 diabetes and also use warfarin.

I had a sudden bout of cystitis about a month ago, first I was given a 3 day antibiotics course...it was not gone fully so asked for more antibiotics, I was given a further 2 day course. This helped I had clear wee, no blood and no throbbing or pain down below but just never felt right I suppose when I had a wee...so at 2am this morning was not surprised to wake up needing the loo...as soon as I go I'm left with the throbbing pain, feeling I need to constantly wee, I did a wee sample and yep my wee is cloudy and smelly, I feel sick too, feel I really need to go to wee and te pain is horrid. I'm amazed how quick and suddenly the symptoms appear without any indication that I'm going to get it. Last time I had I waited all day to see the doctor, this I won't do again. It's now nearly 5 am and I feel more comfortable now the painkillers have kicked in but as soon as the doctors open I'm down there for antibiotics. Also the last time I had it they took a urine sample to check if bacteria was present and if it was whether it responded to the antibiotic given, I will be interested to know the outcome as I stated before I don't think the infection truly went, it just lingered there waiting to be triggered!....will try and post the outcome of today!

when im on the loo, doing a number 2 ive noticed that sometimes i dispose of some blood and it levels in thickness. it also feels like my inter layer of my anus is protruding out of my rectum. but it happens in different shapes and forms. some weeks nothing at all. then some weeks its full blown. i think its due to my diet, when i eat loads of fruit etc and when i dont. im just wondering should i get it checked out. it is really embarrassing when im 21 and showing a doctor my rectum. i think i suffer from prolapsed rectum. but i dont understand the bloody part in it.

I did have a rectal prolapse and before it was diagnosed was diagnosed with IBS, and in time it turned out to be strange symptoms similar to IBS but was the build up to the prolapse condition. I can relate to the embarrasing side...its not pleasant showing a doctor, and I had uncontrollable wind at times, often really bad too. Abdominal aches and strain where going to the loo so much throughout the day. I was 20 when I had my first operation and had four in all as its more tricky to treat being male. I had three procedures that involved removing a section/cutting some bowel away, and the fourth was last resort. This last resort involved a procedure through the abdominen and tying the bowel back. It has been a success so far being four years on, but risks interfering with nerves that can cause impotence hence last resort. One thing I remember is any sign of blood should be checked out. Bright is recent, dark is older. And there are all sorts of explanations. Some serious others not. The sooner tests are carried out the better for a number of reasons. If it is serious it needs to be diagnosed and treated sooner the better. All the time you are unsure what is going on, you are likely to worry and stress or get depressed like I did, so get peace of mind and act. Another thing I remember being told is that when I asked if I wasn't eating enough fibre I was told too much fibre can be a problem with the condition. Good luck

hi there i am a bit confused with this embarrising problem could you please help about 6months ago i had surgery to remove the piles i knew there would besome pain and discomfort 10 weeks after the operation still in pain with regular visits to my gp and she said it all looks ok well since then i have lost my job due to not being able to lift anymore and now 6months on recently i have been getting the same sort of pain as i had the day i come out of hospital i know i have to see my gp but they just keep saying that it looks ok but i still keep getting a throbbing pain and and find it very difficult to sit down and even walking around.

I have this condition and feel like a freak, I often have to push on my perineum or scoop the poo out in order to empty my bowels, however I dont think my rectum has actually prolapsed as I dont feel it all the time or have any pain, I just cant poo normally!!!! Is there a name for this condition? Or do I have a prolapsed rectum if I need to 'help myself' poo??? Thanks for any advice.

I have severe IBD. (CD) I have thumb sized skin tags around the entirety of my rectum from almost 8 years of my IBD. Is there anyway to get rid of them, and make my rectum look normal again?? Literally- it's so unsightly, and embarrassing.
