Conditions with symptom: 'ulcer on leg'
hi i have had a leg ulcer now for 18 months which started from a very small cut on my shin but has rapidly grown to 16cm tall by 10 cm wide extremely painfull and large ulcer. which happened due to a dvt completly blocking my main vein in same leg.the vascular clinic said in novenber 2013 that with a 3 layer comp bandage the ulcer will go. since then it has grown twice the size and i still have the blood clot. but no one is doing anything about it. what can i do. im very scared and deppressed.
Hello my fathers friend broke his ankle about ten years ago and had screws put in. Three years he hit it while he was splitting wood and the ulcer appeared shortly after. Doctors removed the screws thinking they had caused an infection however the ulcer showed no signs of improvement. He has had this ulcer for just about three years. He's been to 10 different doctors. They have given him different medications and ointments to try but nothing has helped. It is now about 2 inches in diameter and nothing seems to help. Are there any ideas out there?

I had an mouth ulcer on the roof of my mouth. My dentist told me it will disappear if I carry out a roof canal treatment. However it didn't. And now this ulcer has been sitting in my mouth for over a year now, I am really worried. It does not hurt normally but I can feel sometimes it goes bigger and sometimes smaller. Don't know what it is really, can anyone suggests pls?
My leg ulcer smells and as gone Green/Black i have had compression lots of different dressing types and still a year and a half later i still have sometimes it gets painfull and infected and smells. But this time its very painful (im on oramorph and other strong painkillers) It has lots of green sluff and the ulcer has now gone black and the smell is like rotten meat can you please give me any advice has to why it gos black many thanks Pamela
Dearest Pamela, Please go to the doctor, your ulcer as you've stated it to be, is turning black because your skin is dying and that can leave you susceptible to, if left untreated, bacterial infection which can cause the need for an amputation and/or can get into your bloodstream and kill you. It is a very serious matter. Your wound as you've described it, needs constant and diligent treatment i.e. regular bandage changes, perhaps the MD removing dead (black) skin (debridement) at regular intervals in the healing process, increase in protein intake and healthful eating, doctor approved degree of exercise etc..If your wound EVER smells bad- it is time to see the DOC again, and ask him/her what to do on a REGULAR BASIS so that it DOES NOT smell. Never let your wound smell or your skin start to get black without doing something about it IMMEDIATELY. When you see your MD (wound care specialist would be best)please have someone drive you if you are taking strong painkillers, as we don't need you or any fellow travelers with anymore bumps and bruises! Additionally,a calendar may help you keep track of dressing changes, as I know it's not a lot of fun and can easily be put off, but don't! You can do it! Sorry about the preachy nature of this answer, but I am reaching out to you with grave concern. I'd like to give you a couple of helpings of peace with that protein! LOTS of love to you- Heidi

I am suffering after an operation on my penis i had an ulcer on the shaft about .5 of cm,i am 68 years old had the operation when i was 63. The surgeon attatched my foreskin to the base of the head covering up the ulcer therby causing an adhesion. The adhesion of my foreskin has now spread almost completely around the base of the head leaving only about 1cm left of freedom its impossible to pull back .as time goes by the gap is narrowing has anybody had the same thing? Its been some time since an erection because of the lack of sensation
Hi, I think I have a (self diagnosed) duodenal ulcer. For a number of years now (I think the 1st time was in the late 80s) I occasionally get a burning sensation in the middle of my chest. I have tried umpteen different antacids none of which have ever worked. The only relief I can give myself is to sip cold milk. I was prescribed something a few years ago that was supposed to suppress the acid and give the ulcer time to heal but that didn't really work (and I didn't bother going back to the Drs because milk usually does the trick). The pain, if I don't get milk soon enough, is sometimes so bad I can feel it in the middle of my back. Derek, 51, ex smoker (10 years now) and I don't drink alcohol either
Derek you cannot ignore heart burn like I did and as a result I was diagnosed with Barretts oesophagus which is a condition associated with heartburn and can develop into pre cancerous cells. I have suffered from endless sleepless nights due to experiencing heartburn and tried all prescribed and over the counter medications. However, after searching the internet I discovered a PPI named Esomeprazole which I asked the doctor to prescribe me. I take 20 mg at 5AM and another 20 mg at 5PM. After 20 years of suffering I am not experiencing heart burn at all. Derek you need to go to your doctor and get this under control.
