Tell him to go to his doc and get tested for Helicobacter pylori. I had the exact same thing, the smallest amount of food and i felt like I was going to explode. The test is easy you drink this drink, I can't remember what its called, blow into a bag and they send the result to your doctor. If you have it its normally treated with antibiotics, from what I remember I had two antibiotics and one to reduce the acid in my stomach then you go back after two or three weeks when you've finished the antibiotics and get tested again to make sure its gone. Get it sorted though, I left mine too long and its contributed to painful stomach ulcers.

Hi I recently started to pass blood a lot when I go for a poo and I have stopped passing regular hard stools. It is now all watery and I'm full of wind. Been like it for 2 weeks now but never had a problem before. I am a healthy 25 year old but concerned and embarrassed on what to do about it as its just come on. I can't pass wind now either for fear of passing a form of discharge! What's it likely to be?? Many thanks

Hey, I would firstly say seeing your GP is best. However I think your mention of "hard stools" suggests you may be chronically constipated, stools are supposed to be well formed but soft. If you find you normally strain a bit when you pass a stool this could also be a sign. The bleeding is most likely to be a symptom of haemorrhoids, do you feel slight pain, especially if you have to strain? The trapped wind is also a giveaway that you may be slightly constipated. I am a healthy female of the same age and had the same problem, I typically passed hard stools then I experienced passing loose stools on occasion and trapped wind. I had a general check up and my doctor kindly informed me that I was "full of poo"! I was advised to use mild laxatives or prunes. The best way to combat the problem is to ensure you have enough fibre and drink 8 cups of water a day. Also I squeeze some lemon juice into tepid water and have that first thing in the morning, that helps me. But again, sudden changes and the presence of blood in your stools suggest you should see a GP to get absolute peace of mind. Hope that was somewhat helpful.

I had my gallbladder removed about a year ago. But ever since I've been experiencing terrible wind after meals. I'm vegan so thought I was experienced with issues of wind but it's not the normal flatulence I felt before, my whole stomach bloats up and the smell is absolutely rancid (think dog farts) and hangs in the air for hours after, and the smell hangs on my underwear. I need to go every 20-30 seconds or it gets very uncomfortable. After fatty meals I get diarrhea so I avoid these, and have assumed it was fat that causes the flatulence. To some degree I can avoid the wind by eating a mostly veg/ fruit diet with some carbs like bread and rice, but something as little as spread on a piece of toast or my soya milk will set it off again. Does anyone have any clue on what this is or how to solve it? It only happened after I had my gallbladder removed

i suffer from the same avoiding fatty foods and spicey things does help as this helps you to go the toliet like everyone else, i had mine removed 2 years ago no advice and am still struggling with food, didnt get no advice from hospital, i didnt consider myself as fat when i had mine removed ive put more weight on since still dnt knw wot 2 eat, but i dnt eat as much takeaway food eg mackys chippys pizzas etc now only once a month x i think the best thing is 2 eat more protein and not carbs like they say online x

Did you go to Dom Rep I have just come back from there same symptoms GP gave me METRONIDAZOLE said I had a Bug seems to be getting back to normal, Still very windy but at least my poo is looking better Give it a go Goodluck

I have severe wind which is uncontroleable. I have had many tests and they tell me all is normal and put it down to IBS. I am 43 and this started after chilbirth when I was 32. I dont eat at all during the day as it causes embaressement, no matter what I put inside me though certain foods make it worse. I had daily bowel movements before childbirth but not since and I now seem to have almost completely lost all sensations to pass a motion. When |I do though it does relieve the wind problem until I start eating again. This completely effects my quality of life, always working around this and having to think quick in order to escape! I do now suffer with severe anxiety and am desperate to sort this if it can be sorted, would a specialist be able to help? is there any operation?

I am a woman in my early fifties, I have suffered from bad wind for some time which has got worse over last few years.I feel there are 2 types of wind,(much to the amusement of my family and friends)body wind and bowel wind. Body wind is what we swallow and moves around the body and when you eat it seems to push it threw with the inevitable outcome, in my case long bursts of wind, noisey but odourless. Then there is bowel wind from what we eat which tends to be less violent and smelly. I would appreciate your opinion on this, I have been to my doctor a few times and ive tried different pills and potions but nothing seems to make a difference. This is having a major impact on my life, for example I can never share accomodation with friends and spending the night with the opposite sex is definately out of the question, as you can imagine.

I have also suffered from uncontrollable wind almost 'all my life'. It has caused me intense stress and worry in all kinds of social situations. BUT I HAVE NOW DISCOVERED THE CAUSE: please pass it on. As soon as I hit menopause it all stopped!!!! Except for the occasional bits of wind that everyone gets, I don't have the uncontrollable wind ALL DAY LONG. So, it seems we ladies have an extra burden due to ovulation. The cure may be a hysterectomy. I wish I'd known earlier about this, but at 52 I started to live a normal life and my bowels are performing normally. I used to blame lactose intolerance, onions, beans, peas, etc etc but they were innocent. I hope this message reaches all ladies with similar problem.

i also get vaginal wind. can anyone help me!!! i have to wear a tampon most days because it is very embarrasing if you pass wind from that area. unlike passing wind from your back passage there is no warning that it is about to happen. it is making me very miserable.

I have so much trapped wind in my stomach, I look pregnant. I am 31 years old and this has been for the last 3 months. My GP sent me for an ovarian ultrasound but all is fine there. I just can't seem to get this wind out and it is so painful. Im usually a size 14 but have had to buy maternity clothes to accomodate the swelling and pain. Please can you recommend foods that will help me to pass the wind naturally or even medication that will take the pregnant look away?

I know exactly how you feel as I now need to pass wind constantly after eating, within 5 mins of eating anything I pass foul smelling wind which I try to hold in. This has been the case for the past year after I caught a tummy bug. Before that I hardly ever passed wind. I am so worried that I am going to pass wind in Public especially as I have to attend so many meetings at work. I sometimes avoid eating if I know I have a meeting coming up. All food types set it off like clockwork apart from drinking water or peppermint tea and it will go on for a couple of hours after eating. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help?

I have been told by a GP that I have IBS. My biggest problem is wind. Whenever I eat I get a lot of wind which is very inconvenient especially after lunch because I work in an office. Holding this gas in means I end up with a very bloated stomach. I never quite feel I have finished after going to the toilet and often have to go back a short time later. I am yet to find my 'trigger foods' as it appears to be everything! I am trying a bland a simple diet to seee if this helps as I am starting a new job soon and dont want my fear of excessive wind to play on my mind!

I have read all of the above concerning farting and relate to most of it.I too can pass wind non stop all day long but the worst part is the smell.Believe me it is absolutely gross and highly embarassing.I too get cronic stomach pains and feel the wind building up until it has to be expelled.I get told that i should go and check my boxers as wind alone can not smell that bad.Opening my bowels makes no difference as i too may go 6/7 times a day.Can anyone shed any light on this problem as even my GP says that there is little he can do.

You're most likely intolorant to something. For anyone suffering this, you honestly need to look at your diet. Sweeteners, particularly anything like sorbitol or manitol STAY WELL AWAY FROM THEM. Eggs, certain veggies, wheat, gluten are terrible for that. Dairy is something i would suggest most people to avoid. You sound like you have a lactose intolerance problem, you could also have fructose malabsorbtion(where you cant eat fruits, things like onions and garlic because of the sugars in them-look up FODMAPs online) or type into google how to reduce flatulance for a nice list of foods to avoid. You need to eliminate EVERYTHING bad first then slowly introduce offending foods, this is called an ELIMINATION DIET, you can look all of this up online or ask your doctor to refer you to a dietician. I dont think anyone can ever completely eliminate wind but i suffered from it a lot, i found dairy was the worst along with eggs and fructose, onions are TERRIBLE. You absolutely must, on this kind of diet, keep it clean, healthy and always read the backs of labels for potential allergens and, if its say, onions, for example, it may say on the packet "onion powder" so you've got to keep an eye out. I cannot stress enough that sweeteners are a no no and unfortunately that means cutting out chewing gum and certain candies out entirely. I hope you get this message, try what ive said, it worked very, very well for me so go for it! and tell your friends to get over it, hopefully, after a few days of your elimination diet, you can pretty much see a MASSIVE reduction in wind/flatulance Justin, literally a few days, its really worth it, good luck!

Try hot lemon water first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything else. Let me know if it works for you?

My mum passes wind after everything she eats. It is not just certain foods but everything. Within a few minutes of eating, she starts to pass wind. She cannot hold it in. It just comes out and she has no control.
